You are invited to attend a Plein Air Painting Workshop/ Adventure With
DIANNA SHYNE
And SUSAN DIEHL
Paint in oils, acrylics or watercolor
Imagine yourself painting in the shade of an ancient olive tree overlooking the wildflower dotted landscape of Tuscany, with a five star dinner waiting for you when you are done.
Imagine warm spring days, blooming wildflowers, rolling hillsides and ancient hilltop towns, all begging you to come and paint.
May 19 to June 2, 2012
Imagine a wonderful painting adventure with good friends, beautiful scenery, and great food.
LOCATION: The workshop will take place at the estate, Le Casacce, a short distance from Seggiano, Italy, about 60 km south of Siena. Le Casacce dominates the Orcia valley, and is surrounded by a park full of breathtakingly beautiful, centuries-old olive trees. It dates back to 1260. In the 1990s was it renovated, remaining absolutely faithful to its ancient Tuscan features. http://www.lecasacce.net/
ACCOMODATIONS: The apartments are located in the various farmhouses dotted around the Estate, amidst the olive trees and meadows, and are all decorated in the rustically elegant Tuscan style, splendidly furnished and equipped with a fireplace, independent heating, satellite TV and dishwasher. There is a swimming pool for the guests.
ACTIVITIES: We will be painting either on the estate, or at nearby locations and beautiful hilltop towns. On at least two days we will travel by bus a little further and visit some of the area’s great art and vistas. Non painting guests can accompany us, stay at the villa, take a cooking class, read a good book in the olive orchard or by the pool or walk to nearby towns. There is plenty to do.
COST: $2995 per person-double occupancy $3500 Single occupancy (if available)
INCLUDES: 14 days accommodations / two typical Italian meals per day / local bus transportation to and from various hill top towns / Bus Transportation to and from Leonardo Di Vinci airport in Rome / Instruction and demonstrations with Dianna Shyne and Susan Diehl/ evening critiques and discussion / guide service NOT INCLUDED: Air Fare / gratuities / art supplies /mid day meals / additional days lodging

FOOD: The food during this trip will be amazing! The true heart of the estate is the agri-restaurant with the renowned and highly reputed chef Enrico Casini, who was acknowledged as one of Italy's top seven cooks under the age of 35. He is a true master. Everything is hand made from scratch from products grown locally if not directly from the estate.
WORKSHOP: BE INSPIRED !!!
“Painting is a Journey of Constant Growth We Are Taking Together”
Dianna and Susan will combine their knowledge and skills so you can explore the art of plein air painting in oils, acrylics or watercolor.
As friends and fellow painters, Dianna Shyne and Susan Diehl know that each artist
needs to be inspired and encouraged. With this in mind, they recently said "Let’s
do a different kind of workshop. We’ll take our students to amazing places to paint
outdoors. Let's be coaches and guides in a group of (soon to be) friends, painting
and traveling through Tuscany rather than have a traditional student- teacher relationship!"
As
instructors with a combined painting experience of over 60 years (egad!), Susan and
Dianna want to help YOU find your voice rather than teach you how to paint like they
do! They focus on you as an individual creative spirit by constantly analyzing your
goals and desires. “We want to help you to create beautiful poetic paintings that
say exactly what you want to say…paintings that are your UNIQUE expression.
You will also get helpful hand-outs, personalized evaluation and plenty of time to work…plus gentle and helpful critiques.
With Dianna and Susan there are lots of laughs and fun in a positive and encouraging atmosphere…
Students with all degrees of proficiency are welcome. Wherever you are on your personal artistic journey, we will help you take your next steps. Materials lists and packing instructions will be made available.

Both are award winning artists who exhibit their paintings and teach nationally and internationally. Their work is collected by patrons around the world. Both have been published in major art periodicals. Susan and Dianna bring their combined teaching experience of over 30 years together to help inspire, motivate and guide their students toward greater artist expression and proficiency.
About the Teacher:
Dianna Shyne
Multiple award winning artist, Dianna Shyne, has been painting in watercolor, acrylic and oil for over three decades.
Her work has been published in Northlight books as well as The Artist Magazine and Watercolor Magic. She is also a popular local art show juror and gives workshops and demonstrations locally and internationally. To Dianna, teaching is a joy as well as an art. Conveying not only theoretical art concepts but also delving into the deeper issues of creativity and the ongoing artistic journey, her classes are both informative and inspirational.
Dianna is a past president and signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, has exhibited in over 25 solo shows in less than seven years, and won more than a dozen top national awards. She is also a member of Women Painters of Washington and Oil Painters of America. Her paintings are shown in gallerys across the Pacific Northwest and in Eastern Canada.
For the last ten years, Dianna has been working on several series of acrylic paintings based on strong abstract elements with sensitive use of color and form on heavily textured surfaces. . A recent painting trip to Western China has provided rich painting material for her work for years to come.
From luminous dripping washes to impasto palette knife and painterly brush strokes, Dianna’s paintings tap into her Russian Impressionist training to evoke the passage of light and deep emotion. Learn more at www.diannashyne.com
About the Teacher:
Susan Diehl
I believe that painting is communication without words. The story I have to tell is simply about things that I think are visually beautiful. Whether it be: a particular color combination, a pattern, a light struck object, a time of day, it is my goal to share the beauty that I see in everyday things as well as grand vistas. Laundry, hanging out on the line with the sun shinning through can be as beautiful to me as the Tetons at dawn. My hope is that you will enjoy looking at my work and that my paintings give you an opportunity to have a moment when your looking at them to think about similar times in your life when you have come across something you think is really beautiful.
I show my work at several fine art galleries in the country including Sanders Gallery in Tucson AZ, The Waddle Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, Montana Trails Gallery in Bozeman MT, The Cole Gallery in Edmonds WA, and the Lawrence Gallery in Portland OR. Feature articles on my work have appeared in the Southwest Art Magazine in February 2003, in the American Art Collector in June of 2006 and September 2010, Phoenix Home and Garden December 2002 and May 2006. I have participated and won awards in many shows around the country and internationally, including a one person two month exhibition of my work at the Charles Allis Fine Art Museum in Milwaukee WI in 2008.
I love to teach and share what I have learned through my own painting and others. In 2008 I mentored a group of artists on a three week painting adventure into China. 30 of us got on a bus and painted our way through tiny Chinese villages and spent two weeks painting at the foot of the Himalayas.
